SPOTTED: blogger bloopers

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

I found the gem of all tumblrs yesterday while scrolling my Twitter newsfeed. Blogger Bloopers. Yes, that's right. Everything is not always quite as glamourous as it seems while on a shoot. And no one understands quite like a blogger. The camera catches some quite interesting and eyebrow-raising poses that are just too much to handle. Here are some of my favorite OMG I got caught moments.

So what exactly am I supposed to be doing right now?

My best Miley VMA's tongue out look.

This phone is probably all kinds of dirty.

SPOTTED: the infamous zara skort.

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

Denim Jacket: American Eagle (insanely old) T-shirt: H&M Skort: Zara Loafers: DSW Necklace: J.Crew Outlet Sunnies: Guess

This weather has been outrageous. It literally goes from sunny and 80 degrees, to rainy and icky the next. I just don't understand how Mother Nature thinks she can play this game, I mean it is almost holiday season for goodness sake.

Every time I am in Atlanta I have to hit up my favorite shopping spots to give in to my cravings. So naturally a trip to Lenox was on the agenda, I just love wandering the halls of a gigantic shiny mall. It is beyond amaze. This was when I found GOLD in the Zara dressing room.

I have been in love with the skorts at Zara ever since my style icon, and icon in all of life to be completely honest (not to be creepy), featured it on her blog. Everything Courtney Kerr does I love and choosing this skort is most definitely one of them. For some reason, however, I could never pull the trigger on one of the solid color ones. But this pattern number was a no brainer.

So while the weather is beyond schizophrenic, I thank it for the reason that I can show my legs this close to Christmas.

SPOTTED: sassy pants.

Top: Forever 21 Denim: Urban Outfitters Boots: Target Clutch: H&M Hat: Forever 21 Baubles: Jcrew, BaubleBar Watch: Marc Jacobs

I can't tell you why I love stripes so much. There is something about a good navy and white stripe on just about anything that just makes me go ga-ga. I literally bee-line for it whenever I am in a store, talking myself into it saying well I don't have that shade of navy. So it is fine. It is needed. It is not limited to just the navy/white combo, I don't discriminate. It is not a hard process to talk myself into, in case you were wondering.

My closet is organized by type. All tops are then organized into type, sleeveless, short sleeved, three-quarter and then long. Button downs are together, etc. Then within all of these broad categories, they are then grouped by color, patterns, and so on. Clearly this is a thought out process. And you should see the striped section. It is glorious.

The reason for all the sass today is because I am just too excited for this weekend! Today starts the celebration of two of my very best friends getting married!

Katie and Josh are two of the most amazing people and I can not wait to stand next to them as they pledge to be together forever. It is also going to be a gigantic party of all my best college friends. And we haven't been all together since one of our epic spring breaks. So great times and celebration of the two amazing people who brought us all together is a given. Filled with lots of love, laughing and of course....breaking it DOWN on the dance floor. CANNOT WAIT.

P.S. I will be MIA till next week since I will be doing all things bridesmaid-y. But I promise to come back with loads of stories, and the debut of my darker hair!! YAY!

SPOTTED: what's in my bag.

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

Hello. My name is Emily and I am a hoarder. A closeted hoarder, since I carefully organize my chaos so that it looks like everything in my oversized tote of a purse is an essential part of everyday life. I mean, everyone needs five lotions, huge handfuls of bobby pins and twelve different kinds of chapstick right?? As long as it is packaged in the adorable mini cosmetic case I got at Target, it is clearly a necessity.

1. Purse. Obvi my obsession with the Phillip Lim x Target bag is still in full effect.

2. Sunglasses case. I don't normally use them, hence the scratches on all my sunnies. But when my fav pair are sent with a leopard case, you make an exception.

3. Umbrella. A Target purchase. You never know when Mother Nature will make it rain, or T. Pain for that matter. Or Luke Bryan. And I can't have frizzy hair with my main man Luke. Le duh.

4. Wallet. IN LOVE. It holds all my lovelies as well as some hot pink lipstick I accidentally smeared on it the first day. I call it hazing. A little lipstick never hurt anybody.

5. Mini cosmetic case. Another Target essential. It holds headphones, tons of lotion (face & body), mini perfume, lipstick in all shades, bobby pins, hair ties, a mirror, nail clippers. The obvious needs. I can do your hair and nails, on the go.

6. Hairbrush. For obvious reasons.

7. Pure Barre socks. In pink. Because it is important to have that pop of color in your workout wear.

8. iPhone running thingy. Clearly I use this all the time.

9. Gum. I'm an addict. It's a problem that is not really a problem.

10. Miscellaneous things that should be in my cute mini case, but always end up in the bottom of my bag. Or in a random pocket.

Things not pictured: The tons of change jingling around, crumpled receipts and ripped wristbands from Saddlebags. I hate those stupid things, they always get caught on my skin and hurt when I move my arms while line dancing. But alas, I love Saddles. My Savannah peeps will understand.

SPOTTED: neutrals on neutrals.

Fur: Forever 21 Blouse: The Loft Denim: Urban Outfitters Loafers: Steve Madden Earrings: Forever 21 (yes they are leopards!) Watch: Marc Jacobs Sunnies: Guess

Talk about the most perfect backdrop for a shoot ever. I mean, what girl doesn't love Tiffany Blue?

I have never really liked Ann Taylor Loft before, just not my cup of tea. However, they actually have quite a few cute, mildly trendy but still work and play appropriate. Those transitional pieces that can take your look from day at the office, to night on the town. This top is one of those. My mom purchased it in polka-dot, and since we wear the same size, bonus for me! Their petite section fits me like a dream and it is beyond exciting to not have to hem every single pant you own. Short ladies feel my pain.

While looking back through this shoot, the one thing I did realize is that my hair is beyond light. Yikes! I am not a blonde, nor do I want to portray myself as one. So, basically.... I have an appointment Wednesday.

SPOTTED: It's beginning to look a lot like fall. kinda.

Thursday, November 7, 2013

Jacket: Forever 21 Tee: Gap Denim: Urban Outfitters Boots: Target Sunnies: Forever 21

Fall is here. Well maybe, I mean there are leaves on the ground and the calendar says it is November, so that means fall right?! At any rate I have decided to at least dress in the colors of fall starting with this amaze oxblood leather jacket. Y'all. This jacket was $15. It was one of those glorious days when you get to the register, mentally prepared to spend whatever amount you have accumulated during your shopping adventure, only to find your total is significantly lower due to a markdown you didn't know existed. Oh happy day.

So this jacket went from $25 to $15. Not much of a difference, as I didn't even think the first price was legit. I mean, come on, a faux colored leather piece for under $30. Who does that?!

I have been in a more hate than love relationship with Forever 21 for a while now, never finding anything I was absolutely enamored with, but this score brought me back to the love.

SPOTTED: My very first collaboration with Jordan Taylor.

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Jacket: American Eagle (ancient, from high school days) Top: Jordan Taylor c/o Leather pants: H&M Shoes: H&M Necklace: H&M Sunnies: Forever 21 Purse: Tory Burch

I could not contain my excitement and that goober cheesy smile on my face while shooting this look! When Jordan Taylor first reached out to me about styling a piece of their collection I literally looked at my mentions on Twitter over and over. Surely there was some mistake! There was no way someone was reaching out to me!!

But, here we are. I absolutely love the colors in this cover-up. The colors are super vibrant and fun, but still ones you can transition from the beach to the snow, or in my case leaves. Jordan Taylor is a luxurious brand full of adorable beach wear. If you haven't checked them out, DO IT!

The goal was to take it from the beach to the street, and I think leather was just a natural fit. A wedge amps up the casual fabric and a jacket is the finisher piece in this look.

SPOTTED: Halloween wrap-up.

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

I have never been the girl who absolutely LOVES Halloween. Dressing up for me has never been something I get over the moon excited about, I just know that it is something I have to do. Hello, it is Halloween. This year, however, I have to say I absolutely loved my two costumes! I just hate the whole we have to be skanky and wear the teeniest, trashiest clothes and then throw some ears on and call ourselves a mouse (DUH). Ladies, it is not cute. I think Halloween for the 20-somethings is quickly becoming more about what you can make for your costume. Creativity rules!!

My first costume was created in my room about 45 minutes before I had to leave. Listen, I had no idea this party was costume, so when in doubt...go with Audrey. I had all of this in my closet, including the gigantic pearl necklace. Talk about ridiculous. It was a crazy affordable outfit too.

Dress is from The Loft. Leopard fur jacket: Forever 21. Giant pearl necklace: H&M. Sunnies: Forever 21 ($3).

Let's talk about this top knot. I have figured out the secret. Put your hair in a high pony then TEASE the pony, wrap it around the ponytail holder and bobby pin in place. It literally takes me 5 minutes and you don't have to worry about the sock or any other crazy method that I can't seem to grasp.

KELLY KAPOWSKI. Hi Saved By The Bell and my absolute most comfortable outfit ever. And it was a day before Halloween switchup decision. So I rushed out to get my items. Here's the rundown:

Sweatshirt and red Bayside letters: Walmart. Iron on the letters took like 30 mins. Easy. Floral mini: Forever 21, like that is shocking. White keds: Walmart ($5). Made the Zack heart necklace out of scrapbook paper and some white gift wrap ribbon. Boom.

I wish I could be her every Halloween. Everyone knew who I was, which is always stressful. I mean, who wants to hear the question, "and who are you supposed to be?!" And let me tell you single ladies, if you want to meet some boys, be Kelly. They will flock to you and tell you how much they LOVED her back in the day. "Oh my GODDDD she was soooo hot."

SPOTTED: I love my ABC's.

Monday, November 4, 2013

Top: H&M Leggings: Hue (they are suede!!) Boots: DSW Necklace: H&M Sunglasses: ASOS Watch: Marc Jacobs

HAPPY MONDAY!! I hope y'all had an awesome Halloween weekend! I know I did. I mean, how can you not when you dress up as every male's 90's crush, the most popular girl at Bayside, Kelly Kapowski! I will have a recap of my Halloween tomorrow!

My style is predominately girly. I like ruffles and lace and pink and glitter. I love feminine shapes and feeling like a girl. However, sometimes you just want to feel like a chick. Rocker chick. Wear a cool pair of moto-type boots, studs and spikes, and more black than ever. Why not.
