Love And A Graphic Tee

Friday, January 30, 2015

So I know as a single gal I am supposed to loathe Valentine's Day. I am supposed to call it a holiday made by Hallmark, one to make us feel inferior to the couples out there. Then I am supposed to sulk in my pjs, drink lots of wine, eat tons of chocolate and ponder over where all the ex- loves of my life are doing. I then, after a couple glasses, I vow to swipe right on every Tinder match I get, which is just obvi a fabulous idea. Ha!

However, I am not the cynical lovers day hater. I enjoy celebrating love and all the good it can bring to your life, and while I will not be spending my V-Day sulking, I will be spending it in another completely cliche way....with Mr. Christian Grey and one of my best girl friends! HOLLA!

On a single gals Valentine's Day, you still have to look absolutely fabulous, but while trying to not look like you're trying too hard, you never know who could be at happy hour before the movie. And since Mr. Grey is completely and irrevocably taken (sigh), we can go the comfy but adorable and a little sassy route.

I love a good graphic tee, especially one that is a little cheeky, so these from ASOS are completely perfect.

I think Christian will love it! Y'all got big Valentine's Day plans?!

Fair Isle and a Bauble.

Monday, January 26, 2015

Number one, I can not believe it is the last week of January. Where in the world did the time go!!? If this is any indication of how 2015 is going to go, we are in for one whirlwind of a year! I mean really.

Number two, I don't know about y'all but I could not be more ready for spring clothes if I tried. Maybe working in retail has brought this out in me, but I am literally over everything bulky, anything with wool, and not stepping out of the house without a scarf on, mostly because I absolutely hate wearing coats. Shocked face, I know. Therefore, my shopping has slowed down quite a bit recently. Unless you count this stunner of a coat, but it was 20% off (use code 2922 at H&M through 1/26) and it's springy so its totally fine.

I am trying to get the last bit of wear out of the sweaters that have become staples in my winter wardrobe. This Fair Isle sweater is always a classic, and the colors make it chic. (And it is an extra 40% off with the code FINDAFAVE, which makes it even better!) Adding my favorite booties EVER and a giant bauble, make it tolerable to be able to make it through the rest of the chilly days.

How are y'all dealing with the winter fashion slump?!

Blazer (similar) // Tee // Jeans // Booties (similar) // Bag // Necklace (similar) // Bracelets // Watch
// Sunnies

I'm over on my gal Samantha's blog, Playdates + Pearls today! Head over and find out why I'm comparing this Zara blazer to having a giddy school girl crush on the hot football player in high school.

The answer is so totes obvious.

Lobs I Love

One thing you may or may not know about me. I absolutely LOVE getting my hair done. I love changing my color, cut and style. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting in the chair, the smell of the hair dye strong, reading magazines and gossiping about celebrities while you get colored.

And I don't even think we need to go over how great getting your hair washed, dried and styled by someone who actually knows what they are doing. Not to mention the fact that you do not need to wash your hair for a couple days after a salon day, because of a few little things I like to call dry shampoo & texture spray. Y'all, it is perfection.

I have had the same hair stylist for what feels like forever, I'm talking like 8 or 9 years at this point. I used to travel home from college in order to get my roots taken care of by someone I trust. Like I tell people, I won't trust anyone with my hair who doesn't have great hair. And my girl Amy does.

(She's in the middle)

You may or may not know this too, I usually get my hair done too often. Ha! I can't help it, I am addicted. I will have y'all know, it has been FOUR MONTHS since I have last colored or cut my hair. That is like years in Emily salon time. So you can imagine my excitement to get back into the chair. My next appointment is not till February 11th (y'all needed to know the exact date obvi), but I have already started researching. I love my ombre that we decided was perf, but since it's close to spring, I think it might be time to lighten it up a smidgen.

I love using Pinterest for hair-spiration, and I'm thinking of a more exaggerated lob for spring and welcoming in my 26th year of life. Here are some lobs I am loving!

YAY for Mixed Prints

Blazer // Top // Jeans // Booties // Necklace // Bobby Pin // Sunnies // Watch // Bracelets

Sometimes there are pieces in your closet that you are completely emotionally attached to. There could be a few reasons for the eternal love. You could have bought it at a very special time in your life, you got it for a steal and let everyone know each time someone compliments you on it, or you just have been searching for said item for a very long time, and finally you reached the end of the rainbow and found the pot of gold.

Now, the majority of these items for me are not pieces I actually wear very often. They are special, that have some kind of memory attached that I only end up bringing them out every once and a while.

I won't even try and pretend to say that this blazer and top are mine. One of the benefits of having a mother that is basically the same size as you, means your closet is twice as large. I always forget about this top, until I go on the hunt in the mom's closet. It is almost like I've got a brand new crush. So giddy and excited and I can't wait to show it off.

I have never met a leopard print I didn't love, and mixing it with this Loft blazer is just the ultimate. Top it off with the neon YAY bobby pin for a little fun.

Top // Jeans // Booties // Sunnies // Earrings (from local boutique) // Bracelets // Watch

Can we first talk about the lighting in these pictures?! It was drizzling when these were taken, and I guess it is true, overcast weather really does make for a stunning backdrop!

While we're on the subject....the weather can be a fickle thing. Especially in the south.

The day could start off freezing cold, wishing you had bought that giant stadium coat from J. Crew. Side note....I mean, who hasn't fallen in love with that coat. Then, halfway through the day, the sun comes out, you need your sunnies and the coat is getting hot.

My solution to these crazy weather days are scarves. I just love em. The textures or patterns they come in can really make an outfit, the bigger the better. I have yet to enter the Zara blanket scarf blogger trend. I know, I know, what kind of blogger am I?!

But this gray one, sold out online unfortunately, is a stunner from Zara and is HUGE. Without it wrapped like three times around, I literally would be tripping over the waffle-knit. Seriously, if I spread it out on the floor and laid down next to it, I'm pretty sure I would come up short.

So silly. How do y'all battle how strange mother nature can be??

Ringin' In The New Year with a NYE Styled Shoot

Friday, January 9, 2015

I have to take some time to brag about some lovely ladies I had the pleasure of working with a couple weeks ago on a fabulous wedding styled shoot. My awesome blog photographer, Marianne of Marianne Lucille Photography, and high school friend Jenna of JLeslie Wedding Decor, have decided to join forces and do these absolutely GORG styled looks and they asked me to style the "bride," and myself for the shoot.

The theme was New Year's Eve, obvi, and it turned out so great! I was in LOVE with the striped table cloths, so modern and fresh. And what gal doesn't love glitter?!

The shoot was recently featured on Style Me Pretty's website, and I have literally been SO excited to brag about these ladies and their work for what seems like FOREVER! The feature went live on NYE so I can now show y'all! Check out the beautiful spread on Style Me Pretty and please check out these two ladies and all their awesome work!

Can't wait to see what they come up with in 2015, and fingers crossed they let me in on more styled shoots for the new year!
