Guest Post: A Cup of Carolina.

I am beyond excited to have these adorable ladies on the blog for this Sunday Funday!! And what is more fun that discussing beauty routines?! I met Julie last summer when she was interning for a PR firm in Savannah I was working for at the time! She's such a ball of fun, and as far as I can tell her blogging bestie is just the same!! Looks like a trip to the Bham is in store for me soon! If these gals will have me!?

Two college friends, Katie and Julie, moved to the Deep South together after graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill. Both PR/marketing gurus and coffee enthusiasts, they blog about all things lifestyle and the little things that make life sweet. Join them every morning as they drink their cups of coffee and reflect on life's simple pleasures.

About midway through college, my beauty routine began to change. I started to become more aware of how to take better care of my skin, and the products I was using regularly matured quite a bit. The summer months can be especially hard on your skin, between the all the sun and chlorine, and it's important to keep up a daily beauty routine even if you aren't wearing a lot of makeup during this season. Now that I'm working full-time, I can't slack off in the beauty department, as I need to look fresh-faced and put together the whole workday. I'm not a beauty connoisseur by any means, but I do have a list of my summer can't-live-without beauty buys!

Face:

1. Neutrogena Clear Face Suncreen SPF 30. This product is weightless and has a matte finish, so you can put it under your foundation without looking greasy. It also keeps skin clear of breakouts, which can be a problem with all the summer's heat and humidity. Although I do love the tan I get in the summer, I've made a promise to myself to wear face sunscreen everyday to save the headache of skin problems later.

2. Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream. I swear by this stuff. I got a sample about a year ago, and ever since, I am consistent about using it every week. The exfoliating cream deflakes and refines skin, making it smoother and easier to apply products afterward.

3. BareMinerals Mineral Veil in Original. I've been wearing this over my makeup for years, and it's definitely a product that I can't go without in the summer. Not only does it help my makeup stay put, it minimizes shine and gives me a soft matte finish. I keep this in my purse so that I have a quick way to touch-up my makeup mid-day.

Eyes:

4. Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream. This is a must for dark circles and tired eyes. I put this on right after I moisturize my face in the morning, and underneath my eyes feels so much firmer and looks brighter. It's especially a lifesaver when I don't get a good night's sleep!

5. L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara. Hands down, this is my favorite drugstore buy. This mascara is clump-free and smudge- proof and really amps up the volume of your lashes. Also, I love that this mascara always applies clean and distributes evenly. At $9 a tube, it's a steal for a good waterproof mascara.

Lips:

6. Bobbi Brown Lipstick in Pink No. 6. This was actually an impulse buy that I bought for my sorority's formal, and now it's one of my favorite lipsticks I own. It's bright, but just the right shade when you want color. I'm not a fan of anything with shimmer, and this lipstick leaves my lips matte, yet holds moisture. It stays on all night too, which in my book, is perfection.

Cheeks:

7. Smashbox Bronze Lights in Suntan Matte. A good friend introduced this product to me, and I fell in love! It actually comes in two shades, sunkissed and suntan, so I switch shades between the summer and winter. This bronzer goes on smooth, looks natural and gives you a healthy glow that's not over-the-top.

Nails:

8. Essie Nail Polish in Ballet Slippers. Although I do love bright coral nails in the summer, I'm still a neutral girl when it comes to polishes. This color looks beautiful on tan skin, and if you're working like me, it's a great staple that will match anything in your closet. My tip: apply a top coat every couple days to make the polish last all week and keep from chipping.

Hair:

9. Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play Volumizing Hair Spray. There's two reasons why I love this product. First, it keeps my hair tame in the Alabama humidity with its firm hold, yet doesn't weigh my hair down. Second, it actually does help in volumizing hair and keeping my hair from feeling flat.

10. Pantene Smooth Argan Serum. I put this on my hair right after I get out of the shower, and I can really notice a difference when I blow dry. It's lightweight, smells good and keeps my hair smooth and shiny all day. Take that, Alabama humidity.

I can't wait to try all of these....but y'all know how I feel about Bobbi Brown and a pop of color in a lipstick. SOLD!

Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed.

Unless that orange is slightly coral and in a fabulous jumpsuit from Anthro. Then, it's totes fine with Elle. (please say you've figured out that quote by now...)

When choosing my outfit for the #SBScon there were many thoughts that flew through my brain.

1. HELLO, I have to be extra cute. There will be bloggers there. Fashion is supposed to be our bread & butter.

2. Intimidating ladies I have shamelessly stalked on Insta for forever and am now going to be in the same room as them.

3. As a baby blogger, under one year old ladies, I felt some pressure to make sure I at least looked like I belonged.

Needless to say, when I saw this jumpsuit on the mannequin at Anthropologie downtown, I just knew.  I had such a blast at the event, and so did my jumpsuit. She just loved being around all the fabulousness that was the SBScon.

Since moving back to Savannah, trips to Atlanta have been a constant for me. Lets just say, I-16 and I are hardcore besties. Last weekend was no different, as I packed my overflowing suitcase for yet another four hour One Direction, Jesse McCartney, Demi Lovato and "insert any cheesy slightly embarrassing pop band here" solo karaoke sesh, I had very very important outfits to pack. This was not my average ATL see my best friends trip. No ma'am. I had much bigger fish to fry. The Southern Blog Society I am a proud member of was hosting its 2nd annual SBScon and I was going!

So you could be safe to say, along with my favorite Anthropologie peplum, five different lipsticks and two "just in case anyone wants to borrow" outfits, a healthy dose of excitement/ nerves were tucked right in there. Among the BaubleBar pouches filled with sparkly goodies.

I didn't really know what to expect but boy was I pleasantly surprised!!! Ya'll will see some AMAZE snaps from the awesome photographer, Rebekah Carson Photography, who covered the event later. But here is my #SBScon weekend through my iPhone.

The awesome and adorably dressed founders of SBS. Jessica & Cathy

The most perfect Moon and Lola hashtag necklace was one of the fabulous items in the goodie bag! Y'all will see the rest of the goodies soon.

The night before with some of the best friends a gal could ask for.

We got an exclusive sneak peek of some Kendra Scott baubles. I die.

Eeepp! Can't explain how happy I was to meet this gal! Y'all need to check her out, she's moving to the 912!!

After our Glow Dry hair. Why is it that other people can do your hair so much better than me?!

My Coffee Talk #SBScon look. Y'all will see a full post on this look super soon!

All in all, it was one great weekend! As a baby blogger, I tried to soak up as much info as I could from everyone I met! It was so great and I can't wait for the next one!

(Lighting was clearly getting weird....)

Dress: Old Navy (similar) Shoes: Tory Burch Hat: H&M (similar) Necklace: BaubleBar

Every so often, even for a self-proclaimed risk-taker, you just have to let a classic do its job. In this case, the little black dress. I am not usually one for black, I just think there are so many other options....and I think navy blue is a much more flattering color, but this maxi from Old Navy is just effortlessly chic.

Now, it wouldn't be an Emily outfit if I didn't add on a ridiculously giant bauble. It makes a simple cut like this one much more exciting. Thats one of the best things about going back to a classic piece. You can manipulate it to fit any mood. It can be dressed up, or down, and worn in a way that makes it completely different.

What are some of y'alls classic pieces?

rompin' around.

Denim jacket: American Eagle from freshman year of high school (similar) Romper: Tobi (borrowed from my sis) Shoes: Tory Burch Clutch: Gigi New York Sunnies: Trunk 13 Boutique Nails: OPI Cajun Shrimp Lips: Nars Timanfaya

Sometimes you just have to know when to say yes to the romp. There are just so many reasons why they are perfection in an outfit choice.

1. They are one piece. You don't have to worry about what pants to wear with what top. Your outfit is already decided.

2. Unlike dresses, you can wear them no matter the weather. Windy? Don't have to worry about have a Britney moment.

3. They are chic. It says, hey I know it kind of looks like I'm 5 years old, but I'm incredibly comfortable and really adorable.

4. They come in all shapes and sizes, so literally EVERYONE can wear them.

I do have to disclose that my little sis is the reason this particular romper made it to the blog. Sometimes it pays to be basically the same size as your sibling, and have somewhat similar taste. Although she probably looks wayy cooler in this, and just about anything else she wears, I still thought I would put my spin on it. Which obviously included a bright orange lip, nails and a popped collar denim jacket.
